The Role
This placement is fantastic in that you get the opportunity to experience two different roles in two different businesses.
I wan't treated as a placement student - I was made to feel a valued member of the team.
My second placement was extremely structured due to my line manager being so organised, so I had a clear understand of what I needed to do.
In my first role at Ginsters in the Marketing department I had to keep pushing to get more work. However in my second role in the Commercial department at Tamar Foods I had more than enough to do.
In my second role I had direct contact with customers and was given the opportunity to manage one of the accounts with support of the sales director.
My confidence has grown, as I was given the opportunity to present to the customers. Excel skills and general business knowledge has improved and I was able to adapt to two very different businesses within the Samworth Group.
The Company
Everyone got on really well helped eachother to meet deadlines. There were a few social events outside of work too.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I was allowed to work beyond my placement year into the summer months until I went back to university. I have been told that if I am swtruggling to find a graduate scheme (which is what I aspire to do after my degree) then I would be welcome to come back to the company.
The Culture
The placement scheme co-ordinator gave us eachother's emails before the placement commenced, so that we were able to meet up.
I lived locally to my placement, therefore lived at home. However I think the other placement students found it fairly expensive.
