The Role
The internship was great, being in London allowed myself to experience the wide varieties of property available in London and the defects and issues that arise from them. The company and the team were fantastic, giving me responsibilty from day one.
The team from day one encorporated me into everything that was ongoing at the time, I was involved in a variety of dilapidation projects, condition surveys and many other aspects of the building surveying world.
The management provided great support and guidance because if I required any help or incurred any problems they were able to help straight away.
The majority of days I was busy and the balance was great, there were some days where I didnt have as much work to do, however, there are bound to be busier days than others.
I was given the appropriate amount of responsibilty I beleive, as they didnt give me anything that I felt I wasnt competent to undertake and perform a good job.
Working in the office environment provides you with the social skills required to work effectively with your colleagues, therefore improving these skills will help through your life. Also putting into practice what you have learn at university into the building surveying profession allows you to learn and develop which again stands you in good stead for the future
The Company
Great atmoshpere, friendly and fun but hard working at the same time
Everything from the work balance to the events put on through the month was very well organised and efficiently run.
They provided departmental talks, which allowed you to gain information on various parts of the organisation.
Sports and Social Club
It is a great company and I would like to work for them in the future.
The Culture
Sports teams are available to join, which I participated in and it is a great way to get meet new graduates and interns throughout the company.
I was very lucky as I had a family relative living in the area, so in terms of living costs they were relatively cheap. however, if you were to rent, it would be more expensive but it is well worth contemplating working in London.
The nightlife was great.
Yes sports teams were present within the organisation in which anyone could participate in.
