    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall I really enjoyed my placement at Lockheed Martin, there is a friendly atmosphere and all the work carried out on site is very engaging and interesting.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were all very supportive and approachable I felt like a real member of the team and was able to learn a lot from the people around me.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Generally I would have liked a bit more guidance throughout my placement as there wasn't really one point of contact for me to go to with problems (I believe this issue will be rectified for future interns). However my supervisors on various projects were willing to talk things through with me and help me out with my work.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Day-to-day I had lots of work to complete and various other responsibilities so I was kept quite busy and had to manage my time accordingly.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt like the work I did whilst I was on placement really contributed to the projects I spent my time on and I was also able to see how the end products themselves really benefited the customer.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt many skills on my placement that I would never have picked up from degree, mainly soft skills like how to communicate effectively in the work place but also important technical skills and how to properly present and structure my work. I have also learnt how to determine the best ways to tackle problems and this will definitely help me in my future career and my final year at University.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was fairly relaxed in the office with people chatting and having fun but they also knew when they needed to get their work done.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall the placement was organised quite well however some things needed a bit more thought and maybe monthly updates with a line manager could have been set up to iron things out. However again I think as this feedback has been passed on and this may not be a problem for future interns.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was sent on at least one course at the beginning on my placement, however I would have liked to have had some more training during my time, the graduates there receieved quite a lot and I think it may have helped me to further improve during the year.
