The Role
A very enjoyable placement. I had a proper role from day one and didnt't find myself just doing favours for other people. Had my own projects to run from start to finish.
All colleagues were very friendly and extremely helpful, especiall in the first few months whilst I was getting used to the role.
My manager was very supportive, had a one to one meeting every two weeks to review projects and discuss any issues.
My workload fluctuated on a daily basis. I was never bored as there was always work to keep myself busy.
I was given a lot of responsibility while working at Cummins. I carried out several projects of critical engine components, however there was always someone willing to help when I was unsure.
I have learnt twice as much in my time at Cummins than I did in my first two years at University
The Company
Good!
The whole placement is organised brilliantly
Cummins is prepared to invest a lot of time in placement students to ensure that the placement is valuable.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
There were opportunities for employment, however there aren't many full time positions availiable at this time.
The Culture
There were several socail events organsied amongst placement students throughout the year.
The cost of living in Davnetry is ok depending on the type of accomodation. A lot of houses are unfurnished but are availiable at a reasonable price.
There are places to go out but, the night life in Daventry really isn't great,
There are a few different activites that placement students can get involved in. mostly arranged by existing employees. E.g. Football
