The Role
My time in this placement has been extremely enjoyable, from working with members of my team on a daily basis and getting to know them to socalising with the placement students
My department have been very welcoming and friendly since my first day here and the rest of the colleagues that work for the company make you feel at home instantly, whether this be at the coffee machine or on conference calls with America
From day one, me and my manager set up weekly meeting to discuss projects, support and guidance. Everyone in the office is always friendly and available to ask questions and support you in any issues you have.
Throughout the year theres been a constant flow of work, either long term projects to urgent work requests and presentation. No 2 days from this placement year have been the same which always keep you on your toes.
From this year I've been given a wide range of different projects, for assisting my manager with to managing the whole project and the responsibility in which I've really enjoyed
The skills I've developed during my placement here will be extremely helpful in my future University work and career, from gaining the critical experience in working in such a highly recognised world leading company. It has provided me with a great opportunity to develop personal skills, presentation skills and learn industry used processes that I can take forward in the future
The Company
the atmosphere in the office is pretty relaxed but still expected to complete your work to a high standard and you've always got a job to be getting on with
The department was very well set up and organised for me when i started, with a laptop and work station set up ready for me as soon as i arrived
I've had the chance to attend a number of training session and personal development courses throughout the year to aid my progress during my placement
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
If the opportunity came across, i would defiantly work for the company again in the future
The Culture
all the student have been friendly and easy to get on with, and often go out as a group on weekends
Darlington has been a pretty cheap place to live if your still used to cheap living from Uni
Darlington isnt bad for a night out, buts theres always Newcastle just down the road as well.
