About You
Absolutely fantastic opportunity with a truly word-class firm.
Extremely valued. The dates of my internship fell within my department's "busy period," so there was an endless amount for me to contribute to!
Half a day's training about my chosen service line, and then sent to get stuck straight in to the work. Didn't need any more than half a day for a mere 3 week internship! Everyone in the office was incredibly helpful, so the support was ongoing.
Invaluable insight in to the professional services industry and what such a career involves. The skills learnt are transferable to any workplace!
The Company
Seamlessly unstructured. I relished the opportunity to get stuck straight in and not have someone holding my hand. The onus was on me to get what I wanted out of the three short weeks, in a similar way to getting the most out of the graduate role.
Mixed. It was particularly busy at the time that I joined, so the office has been rather quiet. The out-of-work socials have been great, though.
The internship was only short, so little training was required.
I spent my internship as an Associate. That's the same job title and salary as a first year graduate. With that, the work I got involved in was very similar to that of a graduate joiner.
My internship gave a great insight in to Deloitte's purpose, working culture, values and its clients.
My internship cemented, in my mind, that a career in a professional services firm really suits me.
Everything Else
I received an annual salary of £23 750, pro-rated accordingly.
The open, collaborative atmosphere of the office environment made getting to know other employees a breeze.
A Facebook group set up by Deloitte's Graduate Recruitment department allowed all the Summer Vacation Scheme students in the London office to communicate regularly, so we were able to meet up for lunch, drinks after work or a night out regularly!
I was able to get involved in a volunteering project, supporting children in a local primary school with their studies in Mathematics. This is one of the many community development projects that staff can get involved in, along with sports teams etc.
Absolutely.
