The Role
Really enjoyed my placement - great company and great people to work with.
I was treated like a graduate so made to feel like a valuable memer of all teams I worked on.
From the start of the placement I was assigned a buddy, career coach and an ALF group. These had vaious specfifc roles but mainly to help me settle in and get the most out of my placement Whilst working on audit teams all senior members were very helpful and gave me gidance when i needed it.
This varied through the year. Time in college is very high pressured so days are longer. Also busy perioed was long hours but it baances out with quiter days in the sumer months.
Being treated like a graduate i was responsible for my balances I checked but these were always reviewed by more senior members. I was trusted in my work.
I am studying maths so the audit an industry knowledge i developed does not advantage my university studies. The life skills like teamwork and communication which I improved help in all aspects of life. Also the daily routime of 7 hour days has made my university studies more productive.
The Company
Very fiendly, takig a break from work is encouraged every so often. PwC encourage staff to have a life outsde the office to keep good well rounded staff. Break out areas are used for chatting and meetings so around the computers is generally quite quiet.
For my placement I joined the graduate employees. My year was essentially planned before i got there with college and trining time booked in
I have started earning my chartered accountancy which is invaluabe in that industry and all the specific PwC training prepared me very well for the auditing work.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I have a job offer for when I graduate conditional on getting a 2:1 at university.
The Culture
Yes, as well as among other staff and social groups. Social event were roughly every 4 weeks.
I lived in London which is expensive but the wages make up for that.
Several pubs and restauarnts in London Bridge but in London there is something for everyone, without having to travel too far.
Not really through work. But it is London so there is plenty to do.
