The Role
The experience of working in such a prestigious institution was unbelievable. I was able to be part of things that I would never have dreamed of.
The whole department were very complimentary of the work that I provided.
The management was fantastic, they gave me full support throughout my placement and I know that they will also be there for me for the rest of my degree and further in my career if I need them.
Due to the workload in my department I sometimes has quiet times where I didn't have much work, however this allowed me to work on projects throughout the year which will hopefully benefit me in the future.
I was given as much responsibility as a placement student should have. I was able to provide my collegues with the assistance they needed without having to worry and stress about my job.
This year has allowed me to work on skills from time management to various skills that will assist me in my future career. I have worked on social skills and learnt how to deal with various requests. In addition I have been able to work on projects that have allowed me to choose my modules in final year based on my known strengths (as I have gained a great amount of knowledge in certain subjects) and hopefully this will allow me to achieve a good grade in my degree.
The Company
There was a period of high turnover in my department at the beginning of the year. However the atmosphere has improved throughout the year due to new staff joining.
Very well, we had a number of placement catch up sessions throughout the year. We were also able to attend induction sessions and tours to make the most of our time on placement.
The company were willing to invest in anything that they thought would be beneficial for me in the future. I would say that this is one of the best parts about this placement.

The perks available with the job were fantastic and of course the Bank of England is central to all activity in the economy and so I would certainly consider a job here in the future.
The Culture
Certain departments are less willing to go out however the social scene with other placement students was very good. It was unfortunate that I wasn't living in London as I had to travel home on the train which meant leaving early to catch it. Otherwise I would have tried to involve myself more in the after work events.
As we are working in the City it wasn't going to be cheap, however there are a number of discount vouchers and cards you can apply for in London which are well worth getting if you need to work here.
As I have previously mentioned I couldn't go out to clubs because of trains home however I did go to a number of bars after work. These were great throughout the evening and in most bars there were happy hour deals on.
There were many opportunities in sports as the Bank of England has a sports club. There were also other various activities that you could get involved in.
