    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The whole year was enjoyable. I met lots of interesting, professional and inspiring people.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • You are not treated like as student at GSK but as a valuable asset to the company.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers were all very supportive in both the work I was doing for the company and the Uni work that I had to complete.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most days I would be fully occupied, however there were some quiet periods of the year where the work was a bit quiet. This is likely to happen in all lines of work so it wasnt a problem.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given full responsibility within my role at the company. This meant making important decisions and having an input in everything that my team was working on.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I picked up at GSK will be very important in the future. My public speaking in particular has greatly improved this year, and that was due to the amount of support and practice I recieved in this area.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My department was quite quiet, however the overal atmosphere was great. You meet so many people from all different departments so there is never a dull moment.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was organised excellently. There are no flaws in the system they have in place.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • For the first three months at the company I completed a huge amount of training, and was sent on numerous courses all paid for by the company.

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It would be great to work for a company like GSK. They work to their values, and they are moving in the right direction.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All of the students at our site had lunch together every day, and we went out on socials most weeks. We also organised a trip to Dublin, and spent three days in a hostel there over a long weekend.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The local area around the site has very little to do, but the house prices are reasonable. Most of the time we would go out in central london, but this came at a cost.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • If you can get into central London then the nightlife is great. There is not a lot to do in the immediate vicinity of the site.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are loads of events that are organised by the company, and I would recommend getting involved in as many as possible.
