The Role
A good experience, I learnt a lot.
My immediate colleagues were supportive and helpful.
My manager, while a good scientist was a very poor manager. I felt she was un-supportive, inclined to be passive aggressive, and never had a good word no matter my hard work or successes.
At the begining of the placement there was quite a bit or dead time. The balance became correct after around 4 months.
While I had responsibility for my own experiments, any kind of initiative was suppressed by my manager.
Yes from colleagues, personal reading and practical experience of experiments I have gained a lot.
The Company
Busy and friendly.
The concept was good, the imput of my manger was not.
Enough to run the experiments in terms of in house training, however regular seminars on a broad range of topics were illuminating
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The lack of rapport with my manager is a negative, however her 'style' is known. It is a big company and experience with the corporate style and lab experience would be beificial
The Culture
Yes with so many students employed for the year there was a lot of activity
The best part of Stevenage nightlife is that it is very easy to get out of it and go to London.
Numerous charitable events.k
