The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed the year
There was a great friendly team mentality within my department
My supervisor was almost always around to give advice on a subject i was unsure of, and even if he wasn't there was always many other people around who were more than happy to help.
As it was a mainly lab based position, the amount i had to do varied quite alot day to day, however even on my busiest days I always felt that I had enough time to get all the work done and leave work at a reasonable time.
Once training had been completed, I was in charge of managing my time and ensuring all of my planned work was completed
I found that the practical laboratory skills learnt were invaluable.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in my office
The organisation of my placement was excellent, with clear help at the start during the induction day
The first two weeks of my palcement were entirely training based, ensuring that all of us were proficient in all of the techniques we would need over the year. On top of this, I was also asked to give regular presentations which meant my presenting skills rapidly increased.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
GSK run many accelerated graduate schemes
The Culture
Events were organised throughout the year
Based in Stevenage, the price of living was clearly cheaper than somewhere like London however I spent quite alot of money on the train getting out for the weekend sometimes!
Based in Stevenage, the nightlife wasn't great however there was always a couple of options of places you could go to.
