    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The friendly atmosphere in the office made the job instantly more enjoyable. It was great coming into work everyday to not be just surrounded by collegues but friends as well!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Opinions and suggestions are always asked for and respected.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • It is a job where you are required to be very independant. There is plenty of other people in the same role as you that find it no problem to help out if needed.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Switching between being a Sales Advisor on Bookaspa.com and a Customer Service for Golfbreaks I was often moved to reflect how each department was. This meant most of the time I was kept very busy learning new skills. It worked as an advantadge to move between departments and anyone that gets the chance to do this whilst on placement I would highly suggest doing so! It has gave me so much more to talk about when I return to university and for future interviews.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in a position to make most final decisions when dealing with customers whether that was spa sales or dealing with a query in customer service. This gives you a great deal of responsibilty but it was comforting to know if you needed managerial advice it was around.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My time management, communication, organisational and confidence skills have highly increased. Working in a company where you constantly deal direct with the consumer it is essential to be on the ball 24/7 as you are constantly providing a personal service. I feel like I have now broadened the skills I have which puts me in a great position for graduate job interviews. Each day you will experience something new which challenges you and can only help you improve your interpersonal skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A lively office with a "work hard play hard" atmosphere! The full timers are very welcoming to the new placements and there is always something going on. I couldn't have asked for a better office to work in for the year!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • When beginning the placement I imagined to be a Sales Advisor throughout the year, with in quiter times over Christmas to be moved to other departments. Towards the latter half of the year I was moved permantly to a Customer Service role. However this couldnt have been more beneficial. The transaction was smooth and I was updated frequently and never left with any unanswered questions. The overall placement was set up well with fantastic communication from HR and the mangers.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The sales students have a student mentor who focused on developing on each persons sales techniques. I enjoyed this as a almost tailor made program was developed to help me progress my skills.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I wouldnt say no as I have had such a good placement year.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Company partys, overnight trips away and always something happening on a Friday night! Theres a great bond in departments and across the company as a whole. Everyone gets on well and it becomes like one big family.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Renting a flat is expensive, but other than that its not too bad! Not half as bad as people make out- you can easily get by on the monthy wage.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not amazing but could be a lot worse! The many Friday nights down the arches and Saturday nights in Liquid have made some hilarious memories. London is close by if you ever fancyed a bit of a more fancy night out.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I know the boys had football games set up and the spa girls organised trips out amognst them selves eg Winter Wonderland! Alsoooo if you count Friday night drinks as an activity that was pretty much weekly !
