About You
The culture in the firm really made each day enjoyable. The effort put in to make sure all the scheme students got to know one another helped to make the work flow better. Any difficulties I had with the work within the department, I am sure can be resolved over the course of my future studies. I was genuinely sad to have to leave.
On the whole, everyone from the secretaries to the trainees to the partners, were extremely welcoming and friendly. As so many of the lawyers had completed the same placement themselves, I was comfortable in the knowledge that they understood how I was feeling.
Everyone was so easy to talk to and get on with that I felt comfortable asking any questions. Trainee Resources took a lot of time and effort to ease us into the placement so we knew exactly what was expected of us and how to do certain tasks.
A really valuable insight into commercial law. Real work, a fair degree of responsibility, and what seems to be a genuine experience of life at the firm. The breakfast briefings on different practice areas were really useful in allowing us to learn more about departments that we weren't sitting in.
The Company
Faultless organisation. A special mention should go to the care that went into the first few days - letting everyone get to know each other and settle in before getting down to the work.
The introductory days and fantastic social events, as well as a team project, really helped everyone on the scheme get to know each other easily and in a good environment. I am confident many of us will remain friends in the future. Also fantastic opportunities to meet people from across the firm - everyone seemed interested in getting involved and getting to know the scheme students.
A lot of care was put in to ensure that we made the most out of the opportunity.
The supervisor/buddy system enabled the scheme to flow a little like a shadowing opportunity. It felt like a genuine experience of real life at the firm.
Sharing an office with another lawyer, going along to meetings, meeting people from across the firm provided a valuable insight into the office atmosphere.
An accurate insight.
Everything Else
The going rate, free coffee and subsidised canteen.
Most people seemed willing to talk throughout the day. Numerous socials with people from all levels of the firm, as well as specialised networking events.
Well organised and great fun.
Trainees were all very enthusiastic about the work-life balance. The scheme students were invited along to experience it ourselves.
Easy to see why the scheme is award winning.
