About You
It was great, having a trainee buddy really helped and the other vacation placement students were so friendly.
The department I was in really encouraged me, they gave me a lot of responsibilty which kept me busy and made me feel like part of the team.
I never felt as though there was nobody to turn to if I had a problem. I felt confident asking questions or sending an email if I needed help.
I wouldn't say the skills I learnt at the placement will necessarily help me at university, but certainly it gave me a realistic insight into the kind of things I can expect to be doing as a trainee.
The Company
The placement really was seamless from start to finish. We received a welcome pack on the first day which acted as our guide including our schedule and other helpful guides e.g. IT manual.
It was great, we were made to feel very welcome.
Pinsent Masons have invested an awful lot of time in us. We recevied practice presentations from every department which gave us an insight into what kind of work they do.
I sat in the employment department and got a good feel for what a trainee would do there, but every department is different, where workloads and types of task differ.
There was a real emphasis on what Pinsent Masons vision is.
I got a really good feel for the atmosphere in the workplace.
Everything Else
It was very generous, I would have done the placement for free, so it was a very pleasant surprise!
The firm really invested time into ensuring that you got to meet the partners, being taken out for lunch and there being plenty of office drinks events to socialise.
The vacation placement reps did a great job organising social events for us.
Pinsent Masons take corporate responsibility very seriously, and do a lot of work for the community in this regard. We received a presentation by some of the current trainees showing us the kind of work they were involved in.
It was very well structured and organised, and I felt as though it was a great experience, very realistic in terms of what you can expect when working in a law firm.
