About You
Great mix of interesting work, friendly and engaging people and fun socials - two weeks flew by.
Everyone was hugely interested in what we summer students had to bring - whether that was an interesting backstory, an insight into a piece of work or an extra pair of hands! There was a real sense of responsiveness to what we had to say during the Business Project, which involved identifying ways for RPC to develop its already excellent recruitment manifesto.
Plenty - but not so much that it was stifling at all. Instead, it was in an atmosphere where I knew that if I didn't understand something, it would be fine to ask absolutely anybody - trainee, associate or partner.
Enormously useful insight into the world of City law and RPC in particular - I'm confident that the skills and information gained will be hugely useful as I continue my studies.
The Company
Lots of thought clearly goes into it and that pays off - excellent mix of time at a desk doing real work with time dedicated to learning about the firm and also to the summer scheme's own Business Project. Socials were well organised and innovative.
Very relaxed, very friendly, very open.
Only a two-week placement, so limited in how far they could - but even so we got a lot of time with partners, the Chief Operating Officer and other senior figures, which is an investment in itself.
I'm now confident I know what a full time role at RPC would involve.
There was a big focus on culture - it's one of RPC's selling points that they're different and innovative. What the summer scheme showed was that this isn't just marketing - it runs through the core of the firm and shapes everything they do.
Highly valuable in focusing my mind on law and showcasing RPC as a firm for me to consider in depth.
Everything Else
On a par with most other law firm summer schemes.
Several networking events organised, lots of time to socialise with trainees. The open plan office and shared cafe made for a very friendly atmosphere and lots of opportunities to meet people.
Generally very good - and fantastically catered!
Found out a lot - I found the time was pretty full so didn't get a chance to join in, but I know other summer scheme students were invited onto (eg) the netball team.
I would recommend this summer scheme without hesitation.
