About You
It was very fun, more enjoyable than I thought it would be - I previously attended an open day at magic circle law firm so it was a nice change to see what work was like at a regional law firm.
Although it was only a day, everyone was really friendly and open to questions or just have general conversation with us to get to know us. There was plenty of chances to network and meet people
Graduate recruitment were very helpful about the vacation scheme process for a non- law student. They were very supportive throughout the whole day, and very friendly. Trainees were also happy to answer queries.
For me this was a great opportunity to see whether I would be better suited to working in a regional office in the UK or in a large international firm. Also, able to see which type of department I liked more.
The Company
very well structured, and similar to other open days. We had a few workshops about the firm, as well as a chance to network with the lawyers at the firm. They were very open on what they wanted from a candidate
Very friendly
useful in helping me to understand the kind of work I might be doing if I were successful enough to get a vacation scheme or training contract with the firm. also, allowed me to compare what different law firm are like
As it was only a day it was useful in that I got to met the people who represented the company culture and see the type of work they dealt with and the clients they went for. Also the candidates they pursued
As previously mentioned, very useful to see the difference between law firms and the work they do. Also good for seeing what type/area of law I am interested in and whether I want to make that transition
Everything Else
there was a chance to network throughout the whole day - with a question and answer part of the day where we could directly get to know the lawyers present and ask them any questions.
good opportunity to meet a variety of people an ask what type of work they did and their background before entering the legal career - very open to questions and able to exchange details
Not really apart from pro bono
yes, very useful especially if you are interested in DLA Piper since it gave you an overview of the firm with lots to talk about if you apply for vacation schemes and further. Overall, very enjoyable
