The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my Internship; the work was varied and I feel I gained a lot over the 12 months.
I worked with a fantastic group and people and felt part of the team throughout the year.
The guidance and support provided varied between projects based on the amount needed, however I always felt able to ask questions when needed.
Most days were quite busy, however the work was varied.
I was given significant responsibility during the year, but always knew I could double check decisions with my supervisor or other members of my team if required.
I feel I've gained a lot during the year, both in terms of technical skills in addition to confidence in presenting etc...
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very international with lots of different languages being spoken. Everyone was busy so it was a productive atmosphere, but equally light enough that there was plenty of time for joking and a significant amount of cake!
Although my team had not had an Intern before, the system is well established in the company and I felt well supported throughout the year right from the recruitment stages.
The company invested a lot in terms of training and development both through standard courses as well as those directly related to the job role.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
The opportunities available vary based on the roles open at the time of graduation, however having completed an Internship I would like to return to the company in the future.
The Culture
The social scene was dependent on individuals organising events themselves, however there as a good number of interns which facilitated this.
The cost of living and socialising varies dependent on where you lived in the area. Most people commuted from larger towns/cities in the area, however some also lived closer.
The night life in the bigger cities and towns in the area (Bristol and Cheltenham) was relatively good, however the smaller and closer places were very limited in terms of night life, although there were good pubs.
There were a lot of activities and sports clubs organised by people at work throughout the year, in addition to one of activities organised through the employees club ranging from 10k runs to days out.
