The Role
Very enjoyable experience, good social side with the other undergraduates.
My contributions were valued and I always got a well done or thank you for my achievements.
Support and guidance were good, however at times it was hard to get help as they were so busy!
Varies- some days were a bit quiet and some were busy. Overall, a good balance though. It has been busier towards the end of placement as I finish off projects etc/ prepare a training pack for the next undergraduate.
I worked on a project to ensure brake pipe union fitting was error proofed (ie. a system in place to prevent them being under/over tightened etc). As the fitting operation involves safety components and the production process, there was a lot of responsibility.
They will help greatly with the remaining year of my degree. I have better skills in communication, presentation, working to deadlines, self motivation and time management.
The Company
Good atmosphere, the people are worked with were friendly and humourous. At times the office was quiet as there are only 2 other people in it.
The placement scheme is well organised and has been established for many years.
All training needed to carry out my job was given.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Prospects will get better in the next few years as the economy improves.
The Culture
The social scene was good, however we should have gone out more over the year.
Cost of living is low and socialising is also cheap. Big nights out in Chester or Liverpool are more expensive.
Ellesmere Port doesn't have much in the way of nightlife but most people would go out in Chester or Liverpool
Yes, although it depends what activites the undergraduates organised for themselves
