The Role
Throughout the year I was constantly challenged and put in scenarios that helped increase my experience as a professional and my knowledge of business. If you like to be challenged, then Microsoft is the place for you...
Even though my team had never had an intern in their department, they were highly supportive and welcoming. I learnt a lot from them!
I had a great manager than gave me a lot of his time. He never looked over my shoulder, and trusted me completely. I couldn't have asked for anything more...
Most days I was busy with numerous projects, but on occasions it was down to me and my initiative as to filling gaps if needed.
I was trusted with meeting and presenting to many enterprise organisations and senior figures in different industries. My responsibilities ranged from mainting senior relationships to prototyping a new departmental account management system.
Going into my final year, a lot of what I have taken from my year is already being put to good use, the case studies and scenarios make a lot more sense, my understanding of subject matter has greatly improved.
The Company
Working in a sale organisation, professionalism was important, though as a team we were closely knit and your 'colleagues' become mates after you have settled!
Being the first intern to go into the RMS department I was apprehensive as to what was prepared for me. My internship was moulded around bi-weekly 1:1s with my manager, that provided a flexible framework for me to create a personalised internship.
When you work for Microsoft, it is down to you to find out what training you want to do and get skilled up in - the flexibility and amount of options made training feel less of a chore and actually something that you knew would be an investment.

I have applied for the graduate scheme, and I would be keen to go back there if the opportunity arises.
The Culture
Regular intern parties and team/department socials and offsites meant that there was always something to look forward to!
For me...not great, but that came down to my own decision, as I commuted from Portsmouth to Readimg, but from what I hear, Reading is an affordable place to live and there always seemed to be something going on
A few bars and clubs...it wasn't London, but London was only 30 mins away!
Microsoft have a huge array of social clubs, akin to the kinds you'd find at University, so there was always something to sign up to, from the fishing club to skiiing!
