    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship alot. The first week of training helped in meeting people and adjusting from uni to work life, and on the job the team I was placed with were extremely helpful.

  • My team gave me training on using the software we worked on, and checked in with me on a daily basis to see how I was getting on.

  • I had a buddy, a mentor, and a manager, all of who were always available to ask questions and recieve guidance.

  • I was given just the right amount of work to do, with plenty of options to do more once I had finished what I was doing.

  • I was trusted with developing new pieces of code and adding them onto existsing systems.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship gave me a great idea of the working environment. Things like working with emails, developing in a team (for those tech people out there), and being more confident speaking around senior people.

  • Everyone was really relaxed and we would talk and makes jokes.

  • I always knew where I needed to be and what I needed to be working on.

  • They had a whole week's worth of training at the start of the intership, and continued to hold training events throughout.

  • In regards to the technology programme, a large portion of the interns get hired for a graduate job.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was always something to do at lunch breaks and in the evenings/weekends, usually with the other interns.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was in London, which is very expensive. However, I was paid a competitive salary.

  • We arranged nights out fairly regularly throughout the internship.

  • There were alot of oppotunities for things such as volunteering, sports and societies.
