The Role
The placement was a thoroughly rewarding year, I was made to feel a part of Schlumberger and had a role that held lots of responsibility. It provided a great insight into Schlumberger and working life.
I feel everyone went above and beyond to make me feel as part of the team.
Very well structured placement with clear goals.
With various projects I was kept very busy, perhaps a little too busy at the end of the placement, but never felt that I was overloaded or overworked.
I was given responsibilities from building tools to running training courses.
It has helped my business understanding greatly and I feel has set my up very well for the future.
The Company
I found the manufacturing department had the best atmosphere in the office, however compared to previous work places, it was an extremely professional, quiet and serious atmosphere.
When starting the placement I was detailed with what projects I'd be given throughout the year.
There was a lot of training courses through the placement, from fire fighting to presentation skills, A lot of training was given to improve on weaker areas highlighted in the quarterly reviews.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
The quarterly reviews let you know how you're achieving and a final internship form filled in by management informs of job prospects once graduated.
The Culture
With the office being in the middle of know where, everyone was scattered around Gloucestershire meaning that there was a very small social scene.
Depending where you live it can be extremely cheap.
Gloucester was very poor, but going out in Cheltenham more than made up for it.
The employees club ran many events, from weekly sports to Gliding, Paint balling and Clay Pigeon Shooting.
