The Role
Although not what I had initally expected the work was varied and you are treated as a key member of the team almost immediately. Your job role is an important function for the plant and as such the i felt like I contributed a great deal to the sucess of the team.
The work you complete is important to the plant and as such your collegues value your input. Working in a cross functional team technical knowledge is higly valued.
You aren't spoon fed and are very much expected to use initative to guide your own learnings/understandings and put them to good use. Always given guidance by manager but definately not supervised!
working for support for a 24/7 plant meant that the work load varied throughout the year. There were never really quiet periods, but definately times where the workload stretches you.
Loads! plenty of opportunity to own systems and projects where you become principally responsible for the activites and as such gain alot of people management skills.
The placement is not overtly technical and as such wouldn't give you much grounding in terms of helping u get that 1st. But everything you learn proves to be invaluable!!!
The Company
Could be very quiet at times. Always a laugh to be had within our team and very supportive when the pressure was on!
Clear job role that you fill from day one. However, you have to make your placement year what you want it to be as new experiences and exciting activities aren't handed to you on a plate.
Only really invested in training you need to comokete your job.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Able to apply for a fast track to the graduate scheme is recommended by your manager and the end of your placement.
The Culture
Depends entirely on your cohort and your colleagues and the company doesn't provide much opportunity.
Not far off london prices.
One club only which gets boring after a while. But very easy to get to places more exciting!
Again depends on your cohort and not much happens company wide. There are a few site events throughout the year but nothing to write home about.
