Vacation Placement Student Review

Everyone in my department was very nice and chatty, and they were always asking me how I was getting on and whether there was anything that they could help with.

Everyone was very helpful and willing to sit down with me and explain the tasks fully including the background of the whole matter, what my task was and how that would help.

I had the opportunity to practise essential skills such as drafting letters, legal research and reading large amounts of complex information.

The timetable was well planned out and everything started promptly. There were lots of events organised during the placement.

Despite the staff being very busy they were all very welcoming and were willing to stop and have a chat to me. The trainees were willing to answer any questions that you had and to provide support.

The quality of the work I was given was good but I did not receive much feedback on the work I had completed.

I was treated as a normal employee which gave me a fantastic insight as to what a long term position would be like.

The content has made me certain that I would want to work for this firm and the talks from the other practise areas have given me an idea as to what I would want to specialise in in the future.

The amount of the payment was a lot more than I expected.

Lots of social events were organised and there was an opportunity to have dinner with the partners and other senior staff in the firm.

We were taken to restaurants and did activities such as bowling and a night in the comedy club which were lots of fun.

There are lots of charity events and charitable projects to get involved in which is fantastic. There wasn't many sports teams but that itsn't an issue for me.

I think that this is the best way to get to know a firm and has been a fantastic insight into what working in the role would actually be like. The whole experience has been so valuable.
