About You
There are LOTS of economic students in the events, so if you are a non-economic student like me, it may feel a bit intimidating in terms of 'what am I doing here?'
There have been quite a fair amount of effort by the organisers in trying to make you feel comfortable to ask questions.
A very good thing is there are constant reminder send out prior to the events to reiterate key points, so you know exactly the 'agenda' for the day.
The information about recruitment and application was very helpful. And there are special attentions paid to give you advice on making an application to Bank of England.
The Company
well structured with lots of opportunities to ask questions throughout the day.
Graduates and HR staffs are very friendly and always encourages you to have a conversation with them.
It's very good that the graduates/staff that do work in the firm makes time for you, knowing that they are very busy with very important work.
It's nice that the graduates at the day are quite happy to talk about their daily work, working hours and their working environment in a casual manner.
It was very helpful because you hear from actual people who worked there for a couple of years as well as students on placement programme.
It gives a good impression on what working at a central bank would be like for graduates coming from different academic background and at different stage of their study.
Everything Else
there are expense forms at the end of the day with paid/stamped envelopes if you do wish to reimburse.
This day is great for networking as it's like having a 'Double' networking session as you have both Lunchtime and at the end of the day for food, drinks and CHATS!
In general it was good as you have the chance to ask individual questions that are of particular concerns to you, but there are quite a few students attending the day, so it can a bit hard to communicate.
The things employees said about their fun time outside work sounds absolutely amazing!
I would recommend it to anyone! even if you are not an economics student or not even sure about central banking! because how often do you get to be in the room where MPC do all their press release? the answer would be almost never......
