About You
I learned quite a lot about the law and being a lawyer. It's length is nice as it's long enough to get a sense of what being a lawyer is like and short enough that you get to enjoy the summer holiday!
As a vacation schemer there is not a lot that you can do, but in the tasks assigned I definitely felt valued.
People in general are approachable but they could get busy and may not have the time to do a lot of explaining or delegate work. Having said that, one of my supervisor was very patient in answering my questions and really did make an effort to find interesting work for me to do, which was great!
Not so much in academic studies but it definitely taught me how to prioritise my tasks and be more efficient. And I certainly have learnt more about what it is like being a lawyer now.
The Company
There are structured seminars and events. Work-wise it depends on your supervisor, trainne buddy who is supposed to look after you, and how busy your chosen department is.
Work can be tough but it is definitely an enjoyable experience.
It is difficult for personal training in 2 weeks but there are opportunities to learn if you take the initiative.
As long as you talk to people around the firm in different positions, you will get a good sense of what it would be like.
Quite a lot actually, definitely a more nuanced picture than the marketing materials and word on the street.
There is only so much you can do without the requisite training in the LPC, but it has definitely helped me in informing my career decisions.
Everything Else
It's similar to its competitiors in terms of pay
Yes. I'd say it's just about enough, as more would have been quite taxing. What I'd suggest is to add a networking session with partners or senior associates, even if it is only a 'speed-networking' event.
Pretty good. Drinks with trainees was fun.
Yes, again it depends on how much you make of it.
Definitely
