About You
It was a challenging experience, and it required you to test yourself, which for me was what I wanted. It also gave you plent of opportunity to explo0re your own interests with people in the firm, and had plenty of social activities for you to get involved with if you wanted to/ had enough time.
You are valued, its a two way process, the firm is trying to stand out to you too, everyone is friendly, and the atmosphere from all members of staff is good.
It is mixed, it does depend on the department you are in, and how busy they are. I had two different seats in two departments that gave me contrasting impressions. One extremely good, and one quite average in terms of guidance on work you are doing, and guidance of how your placement is going.
The experience is extermely information heavy - which is good, and you get a good understanding of the firm, and its different departments. In terms of skills, the vacation scheme programme probably gives you an opportunity to display the skills you've already acquired rather than pick up many more.
The Company
Very well structured. Good balance of socail, information, assement and practice area experience.
It was odd, there is an obvious assement and competitive atmosphere between vacations schemers, but after a while that goes away and becomes more about what the individual is trying to achieve from the process.
Not all that much - it wasn't that kind of scheme.
Pretty well - you could see it for yourself over 2 weeks
The culture was clear to see and was repeated in many speeches but then reinforced by individual conversations.
Experience like these are invaluable, and the content of the scheme can serve to be a helpful deciding factor
Everything Else
You are reinbursed a set figure for the week.
Yeah a few organised activities, but tough in the working environment
The were fun, soem drinks, a meal a comedy show. Nice de-stress from work.
Yes, lots of sports societies, however for vacation schemers, though we were invited, its pretty tough to pop along knowing you're only there for 2 weeks.
Yes, lots of opporunities to get what you come for, as you can tlak to a lot of people and ask some honest questions.
