The Role
I was in IP and absolutely loved the work. In fact I've all but decided to try to qualify into this practice area post-training-contract.
The trainees around me were all really busy during the time that I was around, which was great because I got to work alongside them doing the exact same stuff that they were working on - the results and deadlines were real, as opposed to how it is when you're given some old files to look through or a simulation exercise, which are both great but it can be a little difficult to feel "valued".
Tonnes, although this does depend on how attentive and busy your trainee buddy and supervisor are. My supervisor was extremely busy during the two weeks but still managed to sit down and have a few chats with me and give me feedback. My trainee was super nice - very inclusive and he must have dropped by my desk or walked past at least once every half an hour just to check that everything was going alright.
For obvious reasons it would be a bit ludicrous to expect to be given heaps of responsbility before even becoming a proper employee of the firm, but I was allowed to get very involved, e.g. I sat in for a half-hour-long conference phone call to a client.
Again this matters a lot of which department you sit in, the nature of work it does and what kinds of deals they are currently working on.
The Company
Just right for me. I didn't give this 10 stars because I don't see "fun never stopped" as necessarily being a wonderful thing...
