About You
In my practice area I was given tasks that helped contribute to current transactions, which meant that I had a high level of responsibility from the outset and made the work that I did feel valued.
We were each allocated a trainee-buddy and a supervisor, which meant that we had a great level of support across different levels of seniority.
The Company
The placement was very well structured and it was clear that a lot of thought and effort had gone into the content of the placement.
It was clear that everyone worked really hard but at the same time everyone was really friendly and welcoming. Given that there were only a few of us on the placement together we all became quite close early on into the scheme, which meant that the atmosphere was relaxed and fun.
The firm clearly invests heavily in training and developing the skill-set of its current trainees. Across the two weeks we were given the opportunity to demonstrate similar skills in order to assess whether we would be suited to the firm.
Everything Else
There are plenty of opportunities to meet other members of the firm - office drinks each Friday evening, a meal with the partners, social events with the other trainees and the chance to participate in sporting activities.
The highlight of the week was definitely a Cluedo bar-crawl, followed by a meal at a local restaurant, which was a great opportunity to socialise with the trainees and the other vac-schemers. The meal with some of the partners was a great way to find out more about the firm as well as chat to the partners on an informal basis.
There are a variety of activities members of the firm can become involved in, including sporting activities, social events and charity fundraisers.
