About You
The open day provided a great insight into the workings of the firm and involved a good variety of activities and informative talks.
The 'insight' only lasted for the day which inevitably prevented me from feeling particularly valued, however I was welcomed and spoken to in a relatively friendly way.
The informative talks were useful in advising and guiding me as to a potential career path.
The Open Day has enabled me to discuss my applicability of skills better and has also given me confidence in my career.
The Company
Very well structured with a variety of activities which flowed seamlessly throughout the day.
The variety of activities and sessions kept the day interesting and interactive.
The firm did a relatively good job in investing in me and everything was explained sufficiently.
I left the open day with a reasonably clear picture of what life would be like at the firm due to the office tour and also the informative talks from current employees and trainees.
Talks on the kind of work the firm completes as well as information on its external roles (such as charity and pro bono work) created a rounded image of the firm upon leaving.
Information on what is needed from potential employees was highly useful and enabled me to create a potential career path, which is now slightly different to before I entered the office.
Everything Else
A train fare was promised to be reimbursed.
Trainees and a few other employees were present during the open day, in particular at lunch, however I felt like there could have been more opportunities to discuss with established employees in order to gain more potentially useful contacts for the future.
Talks from current trainees were very useful as it gave us the opportunity to ask personal questions about their time at the firm. The lunch provided, where trainees and some other employees were present was also enjoyable, however as I have previously stated I believe more current employees could have been present.
A talk from a particular employee discussed the opportunities outside of the law that one could be involved in, such as sports and pro bono work.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the open day due to the range of activities and approachable personal, so much so that it further confirmed my primary ambition to work at this particular firm.
