The Role
Not sure I picked the right division for me, but everything considered it was a great experience
Friendly and easy going people, great buddy!
My vp set up two weekly sessions for desk specific training, during which we went through more and more specific topics. Everyone is always keen to answer questions.
8.30 to 19.00 most days.
Just doing the day-to-day work of an analyst
Strengthened financial analysis skills while learning all about the industry I covered
The Company
Very relaxed, easy going colleagues.. Went out together for lunch and drinks on Fridays
As in other big institutions, hr makes a very good job in setting up training sessions, panels and social events
We did attend a week long training at the beginning of the internship. For finance student is not that useful. Division specific and on the job training, conversely, makes the difference.
Subsidised/Company Gym

The Culture
First week was great, then Ibd and capital mkts people started working crazy hours and social life got much more a weekend thing.
London can be very expensive, even with a banking salary.
Not that much nightlife in St. Paul's itself.. But Shoreditch is just around the corner.
English people may not be the most sociable, but there's still plenty of things to know and people to meet in such a big city as London
