The Role
supervisor and managers always available to give advice and check my work. Also assisted massively in disseration which was to be wrriten for university
Sometimes too busy - given a lot of tasks to do covering a wide range of projects but help always there if there was too much
Developed skills in assay development and optimisation, statistical training and improved skills in presenting work to audiences
The Company
Open plan office with our team (~15 people). Mostly people were very busy doing work so there wasn't much 'fun'. Charity days and monthly breakfasts with department helped promote some more fun and interaction with the team
Willing to invest in very expensive kits for part of my project which may not have supported their work. In general, funding for training has been reduced massively so not a lot of opportunity for students or full-time employees to benefit
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Almost everyone <35 has a PhD and postdoc experience, grad scheme did not offer R&D option. Very unlikely to get a job in this department without having a PhD
The Culture
There were a lot of students at our site which helped to keep a nice 'university' environment. My colleagues weren't social at all outside of work with each other.
