About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my three weeks with Nabarro, who have worked hard to give vacation scheme students like myself the best possible insight into what being a trainee at Nabarro would be like. I am pleased to say that the Vacation Scheme has convinced me that training at Nabarro would be brilliant fun as well as rewarding in terms of learning the skills to become a great lawyer.
All the team at Nabarro made me feel very welcome from the moment I walked through the day. At all times I felt like the team were pleased to have us, which I think speaks volumes about the culture of the firm.
Almost everyone within the team is incredibly approachable, so if you ever have any problems with the printers you never feel like you can't ask for help!
I learnt so much during my three weeks with Nabarro, which I have no doubt will benefit me in years to come. I found that the best way to seek that information was to put myself out there and approach members of the team, whose own experiences make them a great resource.
The Company
The vacation scheme at Nabarro is incredibly well put together, which allows you to get the very most out of your time there.
The atmosphere around the place is generally great, it just depends on the context. When you are working in your department obviously everyone is very busy and so there are quieter spells in the day, which is to be expected. All of the socials thrown in the evenings were great fun. All the team, and particularly the trainees, want you to have a good time and for me that reflects very well on the firm.
Having been assigned both a 'buddy' and a supervisor, whom I actually shared an office with, for the duration of my three weeks at Nabarro, I benefitted from a lot of personal training. Outside of your department there are also many other great opportunities to develop your skills, including the very popular 'breakfast briefings' and the networking training session, all of which were genuinely very worthwhile.
I honestly cannot think of anyway that Nabarro could have provided me with a better insight into what working full-time with the firm would be like.
I think three weeks is the ideal length of time to spend on a scheme such as this. Even if the team at Nabarro had wanted to create an artificial impression of what working at Nabarro is like, that would not be possible over the course of three weeks.
Given that I am fully committed to a career in commercial law, this is probably a question I cannot fairly answer as it is very subjective.
Everything Else
I was paid after my three weeks at Nabarro, and at a rate that I thought was fair.
Nabarro has an open and collegiate atmosphere, so meeting members of the team is not difficult. This, combined with the many social events including the famous 'Bowling & Karaoke Night', Pub Quiz and Partner Dinner, means that there are a lot of opportunities to meet and really get to know the people at Nabarro in more informal environments!
As described above, the social events thrown for those on the scheme came through 'thick and fast' and were all great fun.
Absolutely. Not only did I learn about these activities, I was also fortunate enough to join in! There are many activities to get involved in outside the office including sports, pro-bono and charity work; all of which various members of the team were committed to and really enjoyed.
I had a fantastic three weeks at Nabarro, so I would definitely recommend applying.
