    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very worthwhile experience and will hopefully be coming back.

  • Was treated like an equal employee and part of the team at all times.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sometimes hard to get them to sit down with you as they are very busy.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This changed from week to week. Sometime had a list of tasks to be getting on with in my own time which was fine. But occasionally had a days at a time with not a lot to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As time went on was given increasingly important tasks. Was a trusted member of the team, no one looking over your shoulder making sure you were doing it right but happy to help if you needed it.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Excel skills have definitely improved which Im sure will always be useful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed, good friendly team spirit. Was fairly common to approach colleagues for a chat/catch up, managers would also do this.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There could have been more ideas of possible tasks in place before I came as I sometimes felt not even my supervisor really knew what I should do. But equally the demands of the business mean't that tasks could not always have been planned.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Online learning system which you could use as much or as little of as you liked. Other in person courses available ranging from one day to one week in length.

  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Have the option to come back again next summer with a view to joining graduate scheme the year after that.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very! Most of us lived in the same place so there were always people about in the evenings/weekends. We made the most of our weekends!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Think it was relatively cheap but could always be cheaper!

  • Not a huge amount of options but always made a good night of it.

  • Social sports, some other possibilities.
