The Role
It was an amazing opportunity, that allowed me to have one of the best years in my life.
Most of my collegues treated me as one of their own, always friendly and very sociable, as well as reliable and helpful.
My supervisors were always available to help with any questions or issues I could have. On top of that, other colleagues in the office were also very supportive.
In general, days were perfectly balanced with lab work and office work, plus seminars, meetings and social times. As from the moment I was settled I was allowed to organize my own schedule, making me almost the sole responsible of how my working hours were balanced.
Alhtough there were project coordinators, and my supervisor was the one responsible for my experiments, my whole year project was solely my responsibility, organizing my experiments, data analysis and presentation of results. Plus my opinion on the methodology and results was always taken into account.
The skills and training obtained this year are directly applicable to my degree in Science. Moreover, the aspects of team work, social environment, responsibility in the work place will stay with me through my whole life.
The Company
It was a fun office, with friendly people. The light environment made you feel at home while working. This didn'tt prevent anyone from being professional and getting the work done!
Besides some slight desorganisation with the external company which books our holidays and is responsible for our payments, the whole year was extremely well organized, starting with two weeks of training and integration, to allow you to do your own work.
The company allowed me to attend inumerous seminars and workshops, plus providing me with taining and a personal license to allow me to work with animals.

It is ana amazing company with good work ethics and very relevant in the industry. I can definitely imagine my self working here in the future, but as a settled job. After finishing my degree, I would like to have a couple of more different experiences.
The Culture
In general, The social environment was very pleasent. From all the senior scientists, to all the students, there was opportunity to have social events and make friendships with everyone.
I was living in London, so I guess anything is cheap in comparisson. However I was still 20 min from London, allowing me a lot of fun and some wasting of money!.
What nightlife is really the answer! but considering the amount of students around, house parties rulled the year, plus the fact that you're half an hour from London, Luton and Stansted, allowing great nights and many weekends out around the UK and Europe!
Working from 9 to 5 gives you a freedom you would've never expected!
