The Role
Overview: My main responsibility is to provide support for Home Entertainment’s Retail Operation Team (DVDs and Blu-ray). I have the opportunity to work with a title before and after a release date. Firstly I help the new release team or the catalogue team prepare the title up to launch date. Once the title has landed in store I support the Merchandising and the VMI team.
I was treated like a full time member of staff.
I worked within a large team, I never felt awkward asking for help. If I wanted to learn more about an area of business my manager allowed me to explore and she helped me arrange visits, training etc.
Some days I could be rushed off my feet, however this is because I wanted to take on more tasks and take full advantage of my placement.
The more I learnt the more responsibilities I was given. For example I became very knowledgeable about the VMI systems/ database. I was asked to help train the new team.
I feel confident that this years experience will reflect positively in my last year at uni. When I have graduated, I will be able to 'hit the ground running' !
