    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Has been engaging and a great experience. However there have been a few dull days but that's to be expected

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • In the first few weeks I don't think i was valued fully but as i grew into the placement my colleagues started to value me more

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The manager I have been assigned to hasn't been around all of the time. But there has been plenty of support from my colleagues who I work and interact with on a daily basis

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy most days but there was a small patch between two projects that there wasn't much going on but that is the luck of the draw and how the projects lie.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I ended up taking over a system to own and develop for the placement so that in its self was a good responsibility for me to deal with.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think it has helped me in Uni with a better work ethic but the training received and skills learnt/developed I haven't had the chance to see if they'll assist me yet as I haven't been required to utilise them

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There isn't a relaxed atmosphere with the expectation that the required work will get done, there is a canteen in the building I'm in and people take regular coffee/tea breaks to split the day.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was a little disorganised the first week or so in terms of access to buildings and areas on the networks. But once through that initial stage it was fairly well organised

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company didn't really send me away for training as I learnt as I worked which works well for me as I like the challenge. But had i stayed any longer i would have liked the opportunity to do some training

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Car

    Financial Bonus

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I'm currently in my second placement here after they gave me a sponsorship when i went back to Uni. I am planning to the same next year so there is a large chance of getting onto the Graduate scheme when the time comes

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We all met each other on the first day and since have had lunch in a big group everyday. Quite a few of the students lived in the same accommodation which made it a lot more social amongst the group

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The accommodation worked out as £85 a week bills included which is a fair price. There are a few shops around which are well priced. The main supermarket is a Morrison's which is great as it is fairly cheap. Nights out where well priced as well as long as you planned where you wanted to go so that you got the deals

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As we were all in one big group i felt that the Nightlife was better than it actually was. Due to working hours we tended to go out an a Friday night and had a great night each week

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few days put on by the company but the deadlines to apply had passed by the time i started the placement. Due to where i was living there was plenty to do in and around Coventry. Cinema, Ice rink, casino and others which helped us relax after work

    4/5
