About You
I greatly enjoyed the vacation scheme. I enjoyed working with all of the attorneys and staff members.
While everyone was nice and friendly, it was hard to feel "like family" since we are only here for three weeks. This is a common, yet understandable, part of being involved in a vacation scheme.
I received a fair amount of guidance and support from the other attorneys. I had to be proactive, but ultimately, it was available if I asked for it.
I continued to develop my legal research and writing skills throughout the experience. These are important skills that will be vital when I graduate and become an attorney.
The Company
There were no structural problems during the vacation scheme. If anything, I would have added another week so I could spend two weeks in my second department.
The atmosphere was great. No major complaints here.
The firm allowed me to participate in its international clerkship program. It shows a dedication and investment in my future career as an attorney.
While there were good discussions about life within the particular departments, I didn't see much of the substantive work that most traineers or associates receive. This was one of the weaknesses of the vacation scheme.
Attending department meetings and meeting with many of the partners and associates allowed me to obtain a good look at Baker's culture.
This was fairly valuable, but I actually think the people play a large part in determining my future law firm.
Everything Else
I was paid well for this opportunity.
This was one of the strengths of the program.
For the most part, many of the networking and social event opportunities were quite good.
We attended sessions that described plenty of these opportunities.
The vacation scheme is a good opportunity to learn about the firm and what separates Baker from other firms in London.
