The Role
I got an active role in audits, not simply watching or shadowing, which allowed me to get what I wanted out of the placement.
I was always praised for my work and given feedback on where I could improve for next time.
Everyone always took time out of their work to help me complete tasks and what was involved in their job.
The first 2/3 weeks I was really busy and throughly enjoyed it. It was slightly quieter in the last week as their were not as many audits in the summer, however I was still given work to complete.
I interviewed the HR department of a company alone, and took minutes at high level meetings.
Allowing me to see a real-life view of what I am studying at university was the number one reason I applied for the placement, and this is what I achieved.
The Company
Always professional, but everyone would speak to each other and relax at the right times.
I was on the staff planner from day 1, so the work was organised. It did change from time to time, but this allowed me to get a greater expierence by putting me in places where the work was.
All the staff in my department would take time out to explain work to me and the induction was well organised (2 days in Crewe). I also went to Manchester, paid for by the company, to take part in charity work.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Got a job at the end of the placement.
The Culture
Two others on the placement who I spent time with at night and the weekend.
Plently of places to go out at night at reasonable cost.
Very good nightlife with lots of places to go out.
Did charity work, and a few pub quizes were available.
