About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation scheme: it was a fantastic opportunity experience what life would be like working for the firm - a genuine insight.
I got on incredibly well with my trainee buddy, who always kept me updated on the work she was doing, what was going on in the department and she always seemed very grateful for the work I was doing. The open plan office really helps to be exposed to members of the firm and makes it very easy to get involved.
Both my trainee buddy and associate supervisor were very friendly and welcoming. I really did feel happy to approach them at any point.
What seems a very accurate experience of commercial law. Skills like attention to detail, drafting, and just general networking are definitely transferable.
The Company
We had a timetable which was easy to follow, but it would have definitely been a bit better to have been given this in advance. As the firm introduced everyone from all offices at the same time, it was less personable and harder to get to know the London scheme students and the plan for the fortnight than it could have been.
I definitely found it easier to get involved with the trainees at the firm, rather than the other scheme students - largely because we never had the opportunity to really try and get to know one another early on in the scheme. Generally, everyone at the firm was welcoming and the atmosphere in the office is great.
Practice presentations every day was a very useful way to get to know the firm and more about commercial law.
What seemed like an accurate and genuine insight. Everyone was honest and open.

A genuine insight, with presentations and networking events helping to confirm my interest.
Everything Else
The going rate, subsidised canteen, social events.
Fantastic in-house social events and some great ones out of the office. The partner lunch was a particular highlight. There was often a significantly higher number of students to lawyers, however.
Great events, but potential to have been better organised. More difficult to mingle with other students as we never really had an introductory period to get to know each other. It was really only towards the end of the fortnight that I got to know the other students.
Everyone was keen to tell us more about the firm, and presentations were very informative.
An extremely valuable and enjoyable experience.
