    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was really good. I did four vacation schemes this summer and this was the best by far.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone I met was so welcoming and lovely! We were allowed to access any part of the business, given our own email address etc.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Any time I had any questions, there were plenty of people ready to answer them. Any instructions I was given were really clear. Graduate recruitment were so so supporting, I felt like they were friends more than employers.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills really put into context the things I'd learnt during my law degree. We were given training and immersed into trainee work so I felt like I was given the chance to develop the skills of a trainee straight away.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We were told well in advance what our timetable was so we knew exactly when we'd be doing things. Graduate recruitment always kept us up to date with changes

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • We had a social every week and we all had great fun! I didn't feel assessed at all during the socials and all the trainees who joined us were really lovely.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were given lots of training front loaded in the 3 weeks and we were invited along to departmental training as well.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work I was given was something that trainees actually did so I felt like I could understand completely what it would be like to work there. It's certainly the most realistic work I've had on all my vac schemes - you actually feel like you're making a difference!

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was clear how well the trainees got on with each other and the rest of the firm. The partners were certainly approachable, which was reflected all over the firm - genuinely friendly and so so lovely! People cannot do enough to help you. The hours may be bad at times, which is why they recruit likeable, approachable people - who wants to be stuck in a room until 3am with people they don't like!

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was completely valuable - it made me realise that city law was for me! The time spent in departments was so useful - they don't make you spend hours and hours doing workshops which are slightly irrelevant to what a trainee would do - they let you do trainee work.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid £275 a week and they contributed towards my national insurance.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were so many networking opportunities, with all levels of the firm from trainees to associates to partners to managing partners. You certainly got to meet everyone!

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • So good! Bowling and karaoke sounds awful but it was so good! Easily the best night! Everyone let go of their inhibitions and just had fun! Pizza making was good too, we had the whole floor of the restaurant to ourselves. The royal exchange was certainly very nice as well, as well as impromptu drinks and tennis watching.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We were told about all the sporting things that bakers people can do. We were also spoken to about the CSR opportunities - I even got to go along to the bethnal green law clinic!

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend it to anyone - such a great time!
