About You
Very well-balanced with two induction days, department work and lots of social events. There was something exciting or different going on every single day so I was never bored or short of something to do.
Being in one department for three weeks makes a big difference as I felt included as part of my department. I was invited to lunch twice. I got to know most people quite well and because of this people were willing to give me more work.
The HR team were exceptional. Throughout the induction days they made us all feel comfortable and familiar with the way the firm works. We saw them at all the social events and had a mid-placement meeting to ensure we were happy. My supervisor was also brilliant. When I wasn't sharing an office with him he checked in twice a day to make sure I knew what I was doing and to give me work if I was short of something to do. He was always there to answer questions, however major or minor, even if I thought they were stupid ones! My trainee buddy was really lovely and great for advice or just a chat.
I now know for certain that I want to work in a law firm like Nabarro - ideally I'll get a training contract here! That is really helpful to know as I wasn't sure about practising law and where to do it.
The Company
Excellent. The induction days were very well timetabled and the social events were spread evenly throughout the three weeks. I knew what I was supposed to be doing and where I was meant to be at all times which was great.
There was always something going on, from counsel meetings to lunches with friends on the vac scheme or people in my department to the planned social events in the evenings.
We had two induction days training us in how the firm operates, the IT systems etc. I was given particular tasks by members of my department and many of them took the time to really go through what I had produced, for example by rewording letters and explaining something I misunderstood whilst researching.
As three weeks were in one department, I was treated almost like a trainee - I was given the kind of work that a trainee would get.
Nabarr say they are a friendly firm and on spending three weeks with them, it is clear that they really are - everyone I met, from secretaries to trainees to partners, was very approachable.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for travel and accommodation costs.
Plenty! Lots of members of the firm came to organised social events and we had a partners dinner.
Really good fun. A great opportunity to get to know people and wind down with plenty of alcohol! We were expressly told that there was no pressure to stay late or drink lots which was very nice to know.
Breakfast briefing on CSR initiatives like fundraising and I heard people talk about department bake-offs, but not that much else was said about societies etc.
Most certainly.
