The Role
I have really enjoyed my placment year and it has given me a chance to expeirence so many thing I wouldnt usally have done, it has also given me an insite into what I want to do moving on in my future career.
Everyone here has been so welcoming and willing to help whenever possible. It is a joy to come into work and get along with all the people you work with.
My managers have given me all the support I needed, letting me do my own thing, but always supporting me and ready to give advice if needed.
There are times when it can be really hectic and busy, but I enjoy having alot to do so this suited me well.
I was given alot of responsibiltiy, which showed me that my managers respected what i thought and trusted my judgement,
There are so many oppertunities for development here at Cummins, I have done many training courses from Excel to engineering, which has been helpful this year but also has included skills that I can take to future roles and back to university. The student development plan ran by Cummins also shows how they are willing to invest in their students with modules such as time management and presentation skills.
The Company
The atmosphere is very motivational and you can tell everyone is enjoying what they are doing. There is always someone willing to talk to you and have a laugh.
It was set up very well, would have been better to have an induction day with the deparment before I started but this has now been introduced for the future.
The Student development plant, mentioned before showed that cummins was willing to invest in the students by training us on critial matters for the future.

I would love to come back, but from a small department it is hard to see if this could happen due to headcount.
The Culture
There was 14 other students so plently of people to socialise with, along with other graduates and full time staff members.
The cost of going out and living in Darlington is fairly cheap.
The nightlife in Darlington is not the best, but it is close to big cities such as Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham where the nightlife is alot better.
There are lots of things to get involved with, such as football, go karting, badminton etc.
