The Role
A thoroughly enjoyable but extremely challenging placement year with massive responsibility and self determination needed from the start.
During store time everyone helps each other to get the work done.
When starting the placement you are assigned an experienced area manager for help and support during the year.
Standard contract amounted to 48hours a week, however you may find that you go over this on occasion during store time and during project work to complete tasks fully.
In store you start as assistant manager for your chosen store and are responsible for the general running of everything involved with the store, in this instance you are in charge of a team of highly efficient store assistants and must ensure everyone is being used effectively. I found from the year that it is up to you entirely on the level of progression or responsibility you get.
The self focus, professionalism and attention to detail taken from this placement will make going back for my third year feel like a walk in the park.
The Company
Professional and corporate.
We were given an overview at the start of the year as to how the year would progress, however individually you may branch off to complete separate projects.
ALDI place a lot of responsibility on placement students and depending on how determined or willing you are will reflect the level of development seen.
Company Car
The placement allows for understanding on what is required as an area manager for the company.
