The Role
It was very interesting gaining experience as an actuarial student and everyone was really friendly.
Only being there for a very short time, I did spend a large portion of that time having to ask for help. Everyone was very supportive though, and I did feel valued.
I was occasionally left with not much work to do, as I hadn't learnt enough of the skills needed to complete many of the more challenging tasks.
I was given lots of tasks to do on my own, although there were always people I could ask if I needed to. My work was always peer reviewed.
Although I did my placement after I finished university, I've found the skills really useful in the jobs I've had since leaving.
The Company
There was a good atmosphere in the office, particularly on exam results day. I felt included in everything that went on.
There were occasional days when there wasn't much work for me to do, but other than that it was very well organised, particularly the induction and final day.
Considering I was only at my placement for a very short time, I did recieve a lot of training.
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
I was the only summer placement student in my office, but there was the opportunity to keep in contact with students from other offices within the company.
Leatherhead isn't far outside London so the cost of living isn't cheap.
To be honest there isn't a huge amount of nightlife in Leatherhead, but Guildford and London are only a short train ride away.
