The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my year at Aldi and felt that I have learnt a lot about Aldi as a business, as well as how stores operate on a day to day basis.
I was respected by all staff that I worked with, whether it was store staff, Store Managers, Area Managers or directors.
I had regular contact with my mentor, and spent a lot of time working with an Area Manager whereby I received a lot of guidance to help my training progress.
Each day whether I was working in stores, with an Area Manager or working on project work, I always had lots to do to keep me busy.
I was given large amounts of responsibility from day 1, which was a main factor which attracted to me towards applying for a placement at Aldi. Tasks I carried out which held large amounts of responsibility during my store time included being a manager of a store, running the shift, cash handling, distributing change, banking, delegating tasks, ordering, opening and closing the store.
My skills that I already had before I started work with Aldi have immensely improved, and I have also have learnt a lot about myself. By working for Aldi for a year, this will help me for when I return to University as I believe that I will be a lot more self motivated and self disciplined with regards to working on my Uni assignments.
The Company
I did not spend much time in our Regional Office, but the environment of where I was working was very friendly and welcoming.
As it was a relativity new scheme, myself and the other Industrial Placement students did not always know what our work plans were for the upcoming weeks.

Company Parties/Events
I have been fortunate to have been offered a job as an Area Manager after I finish my degree, and I am very much looking forward to returning to work for Aldi
The Culture
The only social meet up we had was at our christmas party. Myself and the other industrial placement students did not see much of each other, as there were only 5 of us and we were all based in different areas of the region.
I did not have much time for socialising during the week whilst I was working as I often worked 10-12 hours a day.
I did not experience the nightlife that Swindon has to offer, but have heard that it is not good!
I did not have much time do get involved in any activities, apart from on my days off when I had more time.
