The Role
I was given real responsibility and interesting projects, with lots of support from my team and a very friendly atmosphere.
I always felt valued by my colleagues and I very quickly felt like "part of the team."
I had weekly 1 to 1's with my line manager to discuss my progress and current projects. If I ever needed manager's support and guidance at other times, this was always possible too.
Due to the project nature of my role, there were sometimes when I had a lot of work on and often chose to work extra hours, however this balanced out over the year and I was never made to work extra hours. I thoroughly enjoyed my job so I didn't mind!
I was given fantastic responsibility during my placement and felt my work had a real value.
I am currently in my final year at university and my placement experience has been extremely beneficial, especially in providing real life examples required for my coursework assignments. I also feel that the HR and Commercial knowledge I gained will significantly benefit me when applying for graduate jobs.
The Company
I got on extremely well with everyone on my office and really enjoyed working with them all.
The Kraft Foods scheme is a well established scheme which includes: weekly 1-1's with your line manager, introduction meetings with key members of the business, development meetings with a member of the HR team to set targets and discuss progress and a leaving presentation to illustrate what you have learnt from your placement.
I was given training and development opportunities where required, which included completing HR software training and Six Sigma Green Belt training.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Future employment with Kraft Foods is VERY appealing, however unfortunately there are currently no vacancies for a graduate within the team.
The Culture
There were 10 placement students at Kraft Foods in Banbury and we all socialised together on a weekly basis outside of work (i.e. days/nights out) and also inside of work (i.e. lunchtimes, organising social events for staff).
The housing was a lot cheaper than my university town prices and socialising was also fairly cheap.
There are not many clubs in Banbury, but the ones that are there play good music and you can be sure to see people you know there. There are also lots of really good restaurants in the area!
Kraft Foods run weekly netball and football sessions and organise a team to enter The London to Brighton Bike Ride each year. They also have regular social activities in aid of charity, e.g. pub quizzes and bowling events.
