The Role
Overall I enjoyed my intenship, the work was intersting and I enjoyed travelling to different clients. However there was zero social life
I felt that they appreciated the work I was doing
My supervisors were a mxed bag, Most were very helpful and could explain concepts and situations well, though this was not always the case. All were very patient
I was worked extremely hard and had little time for anything else including getting to kow my new colleagues
For an intern I was awared a significant amount of responsibility including liasing with the client and reponsibility for my own work projects.
There were very few opportunities to develop new skills beond an initial introduction to accounting
The Company
There was absolutely no social life and most of the conversation involved subjects I simply couldnt join in with, lacking a wife and my own home.
The national facets of the internship were very well organised. However at my local office I appear to have been the first ever intern and they were completely unprepared for me, shunting me around for weeks looking for something to do and either talking well above or well below my level of understanding.
There was little training, what there was mainly consisted of practical guidance and none once I reached the office
My internship put me off a graduate position although I was offered the job
The Culture
I was the only intern and there was no social scene whatsoever
I wa at a regional office and there was no London mark-up
From University I know it is fantastic, however I did not get a chance to sample any of it during my internship
As I have already repeated there was NO social scene
