The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, although the line of service I was in is not what I see myself doing long term,. The internship gave me an insight into the firm as a whole and opportunities to move into different departments. It is invaluable experience to put on your CV wherever you decide to ultimately apply.
Really supportive atmosphere and felt genuineley useful on the projects I worked on. You get to work on small engagement teams where you are treated like any other memeber of the team.
The atmosphere is very supportive, you have both a buddy and a people manager to guide you through the whole process and anyone in the firm seems happy to talk to you and offer advice.
I was quite busy, working as a genuine part of a team, so doing the same amount of work that would be expected of a first year graduate. However never felt too busy the workload was manageable and the working hours not too long.
You are given plenty of responsibility, at every stage you are doing genuine work and given liscence to speak and interact with clients independently.
In terms of content it was not relevant to my degree however in terms of general life skills it was very useful. I feel much more comfortable speaking to people, initiating conversations and presenting in front of people and have built up a good network of contacts. It has also given me the confidence that I have the skills to do well in any cooperate environment.
The Company
Whilst in the PwC office the atmosphere is great and there are loads of opportunities to socialise after (and during) work. Whilst on client site the atmosphere was more subdued and socialising became more difficult, however it was still easy to build good relationships within engagement teams.
The internship was very well organised from the week of residential training, to the actual engagement work, I was busy every day.
We had a whole week of training before commencing the intership and two development days along the way. We also set objectives and received feedback throughout the process.
