The Role
I had a very enjoyable 6 weeks, PwC pull out all the stops to align you to the company!
The Hull office environment was fantastic, a real pleasure to work in such a tight knit community. Getting involved in sports and activities outside of working hours really helped get to know everyone on a personal level and connect further.
People manager and buddy combination were both great. Always approachable and ready to answer any questions.
Highly dependent on the client, 1 week was rather slow but the other 5 were a good balance. Also, the opportunity to do 2 weeks of away work was a great experience.
I was given me really interesting and stretching work that added real value to the clients.
The training I received will not help much, as I have already studied accountancy and been to employablity sessions. However, they would be useful for those with no prior experience.
The Company
Always something to do, loads of nights out and sporting activities.
The internship was well organised throughout, but I think more could be done to prepare you for your line of service before you join e.g. audit/tax specific handbook.
As expected, little training could be given for a 6 week internship, but the continuing emphasis on gaining feedback based on your own objectives helped me to develop.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Very good for accountancy based jobs, not so much for others!
The Culture
The initial 3 day training event was a great way to meet and network with hundreds of new interns. There was a really good atmosphere as a whole and also within the assurance north team.
Hull is pretty cheap to live in, but it's definitely worth spending more and living in a nice area!
Not many big nightclubs in Hull, but i'd imagine there's a completely different atmosphere during term time.
Loads of sporting events to get involved with.
