The Role
Variety of work, great social events and large investment into my development.
I was provided with a large variety of work to complete and when given a task to do, people were taking the time to explain to me things that I didn't necessarily need to complete the task but wanted to ensure I was able to take something new from it.
Upon the setting of each task I was given a detailed overview of what was required and was encouraged to come back to them with questions should I experience any difficulties.
I was kept busy for the majority of the internship, even during busier days it was certainly manageable. Occasionally I had afternoons with less on but I was either able to make use of online resources during this time or get involved with shadowing different people or attending meetings.
I was responsible to the extent that the work I produced had to be of a suitable standard to be reviewed by management.
I developed highly valuable skills that I can apply to my degree, despite this being a science degree. This includes time management, communication and attention to detail. I also developed a good understanding of technical tax concepts and experience in a professional environment. I had great exposure to the systems used at PwC which will be of great help should I be able to return for a graduate role.
The Company
Great working environment in which it was clear people were working hard, but the environment was still quite relaxed which made it easy to approach people with questions. The people were all very friendly and happy to help with any concerns I may have had.
Really well organised throughout the entire process from communication prior to the residential training to information regarding exit interviews and the closure process. It was always clear where we were expected to be and what we should bring to any events. We were given a week of induction events which ensured we were fully prepared to enter the office environment.
I feel the firm has made a large investment into me on this internship. We had 3 days of residential training in which we had team building events and training specific to our Line of Service. We were provided with laptops for the duration of the internship and were also provided with a buddy to answer any questions we had throughout the internship.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Awaiting exit interview but we have been reassured that there is a high conversion rate of summer interns to graduate roles.
The Culture
Regularly met for lunch and drinks after wokr with the interns at the office when available. We also had a number of social events to celebrate arrival/promotions/people leaving.
Cheper than London
Student city so reasonably good
Different sport and social events.
